The Medieval Train to Sigüenza

Journey through time on RENFE’s exclusive medieval train. The newly launched train route will start on 12 March 2011 and operates till 26 November 2011. Of all the train routes in Spain, this is by the far the most unique and interesting journeys. The train brings you from the modern capital of Madrid to the city of Sigüenza where time has stood still since the Middle Ages. The city, found in the Guadalajara region, played an important roles during the medieval times.
A team of characters dressed in the medieval times will welcome you as you board the train. During the journey, you’ll get to experience artisan food and typical sweets from Sigüenza. To create even more ambiance, there will be medieval music in the background and entertainment performances from yesteryears.
Once in Sigüenza, you’ll be treated to a guided tour of the city’s attractions and emblematic monuments such as the castle, university, the historic centre and Plaza Mayor. Again, there will be entertainment shows that educate guests on traditions and practices during the medieval times.
You’ll be given free time to explore on your own. The Medieval Train ticket also provides a 10% discount on various restaurants and establishments in Sigüenza.

Prices of tickets:

Adults : 27€
Children(aged 4 to 13): 16€
The ticket price includes return train journeys, guided city tour, entrance into the monuments, food-tasting and entertainment shows on the train. This train is not a usual inter-city route, so it’s not included in the Spain rail pass coverage.
