Spanair Plane Makes Unscheduled Landing in Malaga with a “Technical Problem”

As if last week’s Spanair plane crash in Madrid wasn’t enough to make Spanair passengers nervous, another Spanair plane had a “technical problem” this past weekend which forced it to make an unscheduled landing in Malaga.

This Spanair flight left from Barcelona and was en route to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands on Sunday morning, but just over an hour after take-off the plane landed in Malaga because of a technical problem. Details of the problem weren’t released. After the plane landed in Malaga, the flight was then canceled and the airline paid for passengers to stay in a nearby hotel.

The cause for the Spanair plane crash last week is still unclear, but authorities have said that an air temperature gauge had been turned off after a first take-off attempt was aborted because of problems with that gauge. 154 people died in that crash.
